The Presidential Standard of Ireland was instituted on February 13, 1945. Its design consists of a golden Cláirseach (Gaelic harp) on a background of St. Patrick's Blue. The design is similar to the Coat of Arms of Ireland. The standard is flown over Áras an Uachtaráin, the official presidential residence in Dublin, and is also flown at Dublin Castle when the President is in residence, and on vehicles used by the President.
